The second episode of season 2 of From the Moon ventures into the great unknown, delving into three installations currently exhibited at Triennale Milano. Although all very different, together they help to see the speculative, investigative and cultural scope of the unknown unknowns theme. How do you address the fundamental problems of confinement, long term confinement in small spaces? How do you confront the fact that humans thrive? That they can't be the only species in the environment they need, they need more species around them?

He tried to make blind people see with their skin. And for that he created a matrix of little electromagnets that tap on their skin, by tapping, it is a kind of draw a very low-fi image of something.

Ani Liu
I started to create this kind of olfactory time capsule for potentially someone’s favorite memories on Earth. The idea is that smell is a mode of communication that is non symbolic, it is just visceral and you just know it.

David Plaisant is a freelance journalist and writer based in Italy. He began his career in London, where he worked in architecture and design advocacy groups and then as a design writer and radio producer for multimedia brand Monocle.
Colin Koop is a design partner in the New York City office of the architecture studio Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM).
Susanna Hertrich is a German artist living and working in Berlin, Germany. She studied in Düsseldorf, Tokyo and London and received an MA degree from the Royal College of Art in London in 2008.
Ani Liu is an internationally exhibiting research-based artist working at the intersection of art and science.
