The book Borderlands (Kehrer Verlag, 2024) is a photographic account of the border between U.S. and Mexico shot by Italian photographer Francesco Anselmi between 2017 and 2019, during the early Trump era. The project explores the complexity of a 3,600-kilometer strip of land, moving beyond the emergent narrative often associated with these areas. Through images that reveal contradictions and humanity, Anselmi portrays a unique territory, distinct from the countries it separates, and laden with life stories.
Speakers include
Francesco Anselmi, photographer and author of the volume; Renata Ferri, volume editor, and Francisco Cantù, writer.
