Hope is the thing with feathers

The book, created by the Albanian-Italian artist Anila Rubiku, collects the series of 100 birds that make up the installation Hope is the thing with feathers, whose title quotes the line from a poem by Emily Dickinson. Edited by Elisa Fulco, it stages through the representation of the colored birds the metaphor of the female condition, trapped in intricate patterns, in socio-cultural backgrounds that like nets and pylons have prevented her from flying. A reflection on how the male cast has shaped urban space and the very idea of the feminine, limiting its expressiveness.
