Una isla
Agrupación Señor Serrano
Running time 65’
The creator’s fear of being overwhelmed by their own creation is a recurring literary theme throughout the ages. Today it has led to the dilemma of the co-existence of human and artificial intelligence, where the latter is seen as a threat. But is this the only way to view it? In a world in which resources are being depleted and tomorrow’s challenges place demands on humanity for ever more collaboration, the extraordinary creativity of Agrupación Señor Serrano interrogates AI to imagine new scenarios, a new “us”, in a journey between dance and performance, between physical and digital that will call on the spectators to consider a possible future.
Agrupación Señor Serrano is a theater company founded in Barcelona that creates original productions about discordant aspects of contemporary human experience. Their shows mix live video, text, performance, scale models, sound and objects and have toured internationally. With Una isla, Agrupación Señor Serrano takes a further step in its scenic exploration and presents itself as never seen before. Consisting of Àlex Serrano, Pau Palacios and Barbara Bloin, the company, in addition to the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2015, has received other awards, such as the 2017 Premi Ciutat de Barcelona de Teatre and the 2016 Premi FAD Sebastià Gasch d'Arts Parateatrals.
