Architect, designer, urbanist and theorist, Marco Zanuso (Milan, 1916 – 2001) played a key role in the development of post-war Italian design. In a career spanning over five decades, he combined know-how, technological innovation and a keen attention to industrial processes, offering original responses to the evolving needs of contemporary living. His objects, often co-designed with Richard Sapper, are a manifesto of a clear and thoughtful approach to industrial design, reflecting his ability to conceive design not as a matter of style, but as a form of modernity aimed at improving everyday life. On display is a selection of objects from Triennale Milano’s permanent collection, including the Lady armchair, one of Zanuso’s most significant works, first presented at the 9th Triennale in 1951.
