Sound, Radio and City
Free admission upon registration
What is the relationship between sound, radio and the city? We discuss this during the second appointment of the series of talks around Ritratto di Città, a project of MASBEDO curated by Cloe Piccoli. The conversation explores radio practice as a social and democratic act from the experience of the Studio di Fonologia RAI in Milan. The aim is to investigate the political attitude and meaning inherent in listening and in the horizontal appropriation of space through forms and sounds. Focus of the meeting will be the socio-political dimension of sound, understood as a medium of cultural sharing through radio and cities. A central theme of Ritratto di Città (20/20.000Hz), which, starting from the historical, political and cultural roots of the Studio di Fonologia, by Luciano Berio and Bruno Maderna, will allow the delineation of a critical itinerary focused on sound as a disruptive and antagonistic element, in relation to the contexts of reference.
Speakers include: Delia Casadei, musicologist; Damiano Gullì, curator for Contemporary art and Public program, Triennale Milano; MASBEDO, artists; Manuel Orazi, architectural and urban historian; Carlo Pastore, artistic director; Cloe Piccoli, curator and art critic.
