On the occasion of the exhibition Fabio Mauri. De Oppressione (on view until 15 February 2026), we present a preview of the catalogue raisonné of the Italian artist’s work, curated by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev and currently being published in Italian and English by Allemandi and Hatje Cantz. A journey into the art and thought of Fabio Mauri, the preview illustrates the research and compilation process behind the catalogue raisonné.

Fabio Mauri (Rome, April 1, 1926 – May 19, 2009) was one of the leading figures of the Italian avant-garde from the postwar period to the early 2000s. His work is distinguished by its prophetic insights into the role of the screen in contemporary society, as well as by his exploration of ideology, memory, and the relationship between mass media and the rise of twentieth-century authoritarian regimes.
