Workshop

Piscina Mirabilis

mk – Michele Di Stefano

November 3 to 5 and December 4 to 6

This workshop-performance invites people to seek a collective connection through movement, as a pure dynamic mode of expression. Led by choreographer Michele Di Stefano – Triennale Milano Teatro’s associate artist and Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale –, mk is among the leading dance companies on the contemporary scene.
Piscina Mirabilis creates a time and space that precede any formal planning or artistic result in an effort to encompass a broad community composed of (but not limited to) dancers, actors, and athletes. The stage unexpectedly becomes an everyday place onto which figures are projected in search of free cohabitation. Each workshop session features the participation and involvement of a different guest artist: Agnese Banti (Nov 3), Daniele Guaschino (Nov 4), Biagio Caravano (Nov 5; Dec 6), Elena Rivoltini (Dec 4), Federica Furlani (Dec 5).

Founded by Michele Di Stefano in 2000, and presenting works around the world, the mk company pursues choreographic research that explores the ambiguity of bodily states and their alterations.

The company’s latest works present different formats and performance environments in collaboration with other artists: Veduta (2016-17) is an immersive performance that explores the urban landscape; Bermudas (2017-18, Danza&Danza Prize for best Italian production and Ubu Award 2019) is a choreographic system for a varied and interchangeable number of dancers that develops the idea of perpetual motion governed by an organic order; Parete Nord, devoted to mountains, is an international project co-produced by Torinodanza 2018; EDEN (Danza&Danza Special Prize) is a project commissioned by the 2020 Bolzano Danza/Tanz Bozen festival; maqam (2021) was commissioned by RING.
