Raheem Sessions
Generic Animal LIVE (Pianoroll + Bass VI), Plastica

June 23 2021, 6.45pm

Radio Raheem – today’s resident radio at Triennale Milano – has renewed its partnership with FOG for a new calendar of live music sessions. The evening opens with a live electronic performance by Plastica, a talented producer and arranger from Verona, whose samples, keyboard layers and electronic glitch atmospheres make her one of the great new talents on the Italian scene. The session is headlined by Generic Animal, whose latest album Presto and appearance in the Colors series with the song “Lifevest”, has been confirmed as one of the most intriguing voices in the Italian recording world. With lyrics that are at once raw and romantic, the sound creates a picture painted by melancholy guitar notes and sophisticated, pervasive arrangements.

Generic Animal is Luca Galizia, born in 1995. He plays a number of instruments, and he draws and writes with his guitar and with GarageBand. The name Generic Animal comes from his drawing of a sexless, species-less animal. His first single, Broncio, came out on November 10, 2017 and in January 2018 he cut his first album, of the same name, released by La Tempesta. The album was produced by Marco Giudici, the lyrics were by Jacopo Lietti, and the sound ranges from hip-hop to Midwest with medieval overtones. The disc was very well received by public and critics alike and a subsequent tour saw him perform in more than eighty clubs across all Italy. In July that year, Generic Animal released two singles with his first truly personal lyrics: Aeroplani (produced by RIVA) and Gattino, which heralded the release of Emoranger, his second album, produced by Zollo. It was composed with a more trap, edulcorated flavour, created in partnership with La Tempesta and Bomba Dischi. At the time, Luca was beginning to work with various exponents of the hip-hop and trap scene in Rome. He has been working on the great debut of Massimo Pericolo with Sabbie d’oro and most recently on Rkomi’s summer tour, as a guitarist and backing vocals.

He has also started collaborating with 72-Hour Post Fight, the producer of his latest album Presto. Luca was invited to take part in the famous Colors format and March 18, 2021 saw the release of “Lifevest”, a previously unpublished song with which he announces his new album, due out by the end of the year.

Matilde Ferrari, alias Plastica, Veronese by birth and Milanese by adoption, is a producer, multi-instrumentalist and DJ. Born in 1996, she began her musical career on the keyboard but soon found her passion for music production, eventually working on sound design for brands such as Kappa, Swarovski, and Vogue. Having studied classical and modern piano and taken electronic music lessons at the conservatory, Plastica alternates analogue sounds (including piano, electric bass, synths and drum machines) with digital sounds and samples, creating compositions that can be adapted to the most diverse genres. Her talent in production led to her nomination as a finalist in the Jäger Music Lab 2019 in Berlin, one of the top electronic music contests and showcases, and to her endorsement by none other than Raffaele Costantino, the renowned DJ and radio presenter. She has worked, and continues to work, as a musician and producer with artists such as Marianne Mirage, Elasi, Inoki Ness, Kang Brulèe & Polezky (known for their work with Gemitaiz, Achille Lauro, Mahmood, and many others). She was a resident DJ for the Linoleum Milano evening at the Rocket Club (one of the most important venues for the Lombard and Italian music scene) and is currently a resident DJ for Radio Raheem. Noted for her experience and skills, in 2020 she joined the roster of Sugar Music Publishing. Most recently, she was selected to participate in the International Songwriting Camp 2021 organised by Italia Music Export.
