Rettilario

Sara Leghissa

Italian Premiere

Spazio SERRA

The reptilarium is a space in which the lives of small creatures are object of human attention. The aim of the work is to generate a shift in the perception of our surroundings, through a change of scale, from the macroscopic to the microscopic. With the performative installation Rettilario, Sara Leghissa invites the audience to connect with an environment which is both natural and artificial, creating a unique perceptive experience that provokes a defamiliarizing effect. Through the practice of foley – the reproduction of everyday sounds in the postproduction of films – the work overlaps different soundscapes to the daily life of the city. A fascinating and timely reflection on the relativity of the human position vis-à-vis the environment.

Sara Leghissa is a Milan-based independent researcher and performer. Her artistic practice takes place primarily in public spaces, through an ecological approach to the use of resources. In her work, she creates systems and devices which attempt to blend with the environment, aiming to share different images and contents and meet diverse audiences. She is co-founder of the artistic project Strasse and has collaborated with a range of artists and collectives, including Teatro Valdoca, -Dom, Giorgia Ohanesian Nardin, Muta Imago, Jacopo Miliani, Daniela Bershan, Dorota Gawęda & Eglė Kulbokaitė. She has presented her work in in festivals and venues both in Italy and internationally, e.g. Santarcangelo Festival, Triennale Milano, Short Theatre, VAC Foundation, Far Festival, Oerol Festival, Festival Parallele, Saal Biennal, Tombees De La Nuit.
