Presented in competition at the 70th Venice International Film Festival, the film tells the story of a man and his children, who live without a home in a deserted Taipei. During the day, the father works for a real estate agency, showing billboards on the streets, while the children spend their days running around stores and in nature. The family meets at night to wash in public baths and sleep in abandoned buildings. There are few conversations and many daily activities, with long scenes of them eating, drinking, sleeping, smoking, urinating, defecating, and crying. A woman, who seems to be the mother or at least a maternal figure, secretly observes the family before joining them.
