Italian Premiere
A FOG italian premiere, Will you marry me? is a site-specific project exploring the relationship between illegal practices and public space. Adopting a transient and unconventional form, this performance invites the audience to consider the boundary between legality and illegality, drawing on personal experiences and practices of resistance which employ the law to “break the law”. Conceiving the law as a fluid parameter, which is contingent to its historical and cultural context, the work asks how our perception of the norms changes depending on the historical time in which we live and the privileges we enjoy, and explores how unlawfulness is experienced in our bodies. The work is a timely reflection on political questions; it engages the audience in explicitly mimetic forms of complicity and public resistance
Sara Leghissa is an independent artist, performer and researcher based in Milan. After graduating in History of the Contemporary World, in 2011 she co-founded the collective Strasse, which produced site-specific projects in public spaces, creating devices to enhance the audience’s level of attention on what already exists in reality. With Annamaria Ajmone, Leghissa has set up Nobody’s Indiscipline, an Italian independent platform for the exchange of performing arts practices, and NESSUNO, a place that generates community and resistance through the practice of collective partying and supports the complexity of vocabularies produced by these encounters.
