STORIES before, during and after:a podcast on staging a show

July 1 2021

After Chi ha ucciso mio padre, a show that premiered in February 2020 at the Vie di Modena Festival just before Italy went into lockdown, and then started up again only to stop for a second time in December – we were pleased to accept the request from Triennale Milano Teatro to say a few words about the work in an audio version.

As it is only natural for us, we have attempted to give a direct, personal idea of the atmosphere during the rehearsals, as well as of the premiere and of what has been happening to us during this difficult period for live shows. Details and voices are interspersed with excerpts from the text by the French author who, in this dialogue for a single voice, talks to his father, in a mix of personal memories and political invective.

Performed by Francesco Alberici, Chi ha ucciso mio padre is a dialogue for a single voice, a letter to a father, in which a homosexual son consigns his father, who is obsessed with masculinity and the knowledge that he himself is an outcast, to an early death – a death caused by the laws and rules of a power that has stopped looking at the people it shuns when they get in the way.
