Agrupación Señor Serrano
Running time 55’
In a bold and outspoken performance, the Spanish company Agrupación Señor Serrano – Silver Lion winner at the Venice Biennale and among the most brilliant examples of a theater capable of combining critical spirit and irony – troubles accepted readings of Greek myths in this work intended for a very young audience. On stage, reinterpretations of figures such as Prometheus, Hippolyta and the Amazons are entrusted to the voice of a narrator and a colorful troupe of scale models, turning timeless stories on their heads and rediscovering their contemporary legacy. Freed from the presence of adults and parents, girls and boys are encouraged to share with the performers the reactions and thoughts they experienced as spectators.
Agrupación Señor Serrano is a theater company founded in Barcelona that creates original productions about discordant aspects of contemporary human experience. Their shows mix live video, scale models, text, performance, sound and objects and have toured internationally. Currently, the company consists of Àlex Serrano, Pau Palacios and Barbara Bloin. In addition to them, for each production the company counts on the indispensable collaboration of a multidisciplinary and variable creative team. In addition to the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2015, the company has also received other awards, such as the 2017 Premi Ciutat de Barcelona de Teatre and the 2016 Premi FAD Sebastià Gasch d'Arts Parateatrals.
