Art for Tomorrow 2025

May 12 2025, 1.30pm

Free admission upon registration

On the occasion of the opening of the 24th International Exhibition, talks are scheduled for Art for Tomorrow, a project promoted by The Democracy and Culture Foundation together with “The New York Times” that reflects on the role of the arts and architecture in shaping social and cultural change. The program opens with institutional greetings by Achilles Tsaltas, President of Democracy & Culture Foundation, and Stefano Boeri, President of Triennale Milano, followed by the panel Going Deep: Community-Based Arts, in which artists and curators — including Alvaro Barrington, Alessandro Cinque and Courtney J. Martin — explore artistic practices deeply rooted in the territories and needs of communities. This is followed by a conversation with Theaster Gates, an artist and professor at the University of Chicago and one of the protagonists of the 24th International Exhibition, who explores the potential of art as a tool for urban regeneration and collective construction. The afternoon concludes with Culture for Tomorrow: a discussion between Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, Norman Foster, architect and President of the Norman Foster Foundation, and Stefano Boeri, who share their vision of the future of culture in a time marked by profound global transformations.
