Guided by an urgency to understand the fundamental ways that design can enact change in the built environment, this documentary follows HouseEurope! in an open process of establishing partners, drafting positions, convening meetings, strategizing campaigns, and collecting votes to build a movement that aims to change the conditions of the architectural discipline in Europe.

Francesco Garutti is Associate Director Programs at the CCA Montreal since 2017. He was formerly Art and Architecture Editor at Abitare magazine (2011–2013) and worked as architect for Peter Zumthor Architekturbüro between 2007 and 2008. Using art, architecture and moving image projects to activate critical and cross-disciplinary forms of research, Garutti has been investigating topics such as the rise of emotional capitalism, the relationship between technology and politics, and the role of institutions today. His latest exhibition series Groundwork – which includes the films Into the Island, To Build Law and With An Acre – has been presented at CCA and in institutions and biennials across the world. Fosbury Architecture is the national organizing member for Italy of HouseEurope!.
