Cinema Night
Stories in history
Free admission upon registration
The discussion between film-makers Andrei Ujica and Pietro Marcello, moderated by the film critic Luca Mosso, introduces the screenings program entitled Stories in history, which focuses on several of the two film-makers key films, in which judicious research of archive material combined with expert editing create an overlap between the collective dimension and the intimate story of the people involved. The Cinema Night and the related screenings program prompt reflection on the evocative, poetic and political power of images, and stems from works presented at Il Nostro Tempo, CinéFondationCartier: from The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceaușescu by Andrei Ujica, to Notre Siècle (Our Century), by Artavazd Pelechian, the master of “distance montage”, to whom Pietro Marcello dedicated Il silenzio di Pelešjan (The Silence of Pelechian), an image-based biographical documentary.
