Come Out! Stonewall Revolution tells the story of a before and an after, of freedom and barriers, of wishes and identity. The festival’s second volume opens with an event that fifty years ago sparked the birth of the Gay Pride. In June 1969, the Stonewall Inn in New York’s Greenwich Village was the background for a movement of rebellion that saw thousands of young people take to the streets to claim the right to love freely, to imagine new ways of being together and to subvert binary concepts and accepted norms. A crucial moment in the history of the LGBTQI+ community and of the 20th century, the Stonewall events are an opportunity to reflect on the present (power, identity, democracy and public space) through a dialogue between imaginary voices and archival material. A tribute to the acts of courage of those who fought in the name of freedom, gender equality and inclusion.
