E Dio si riposò il settimo giorno

Silvia Costa

Italian Premiere

A creative and interactive project about family bonds, exploring and celebrating their ability to produce a joint venture, a collective design. More focused on process than on final result, the experience conceived by Italian artist Silvia Costa sees the different generations of a family engaged in a shared task. A great-grandparent, a grandparent, a parent and a child face a white canvas. They have colors, paint brushes and pencils. With a photo of a landscape they know and love, they set out to reproduce it in a painting. They look at the picture, start tracing the first lines, paint together, help each other and make joint decisions to recreate the treasured image – they continue until the painting is finished.

Silvia Costa graduated in visual and dramatic arts from Iuav in Venice. In 2006 she was lead actress in Hey Girl! with Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio, the company founded by Romeo Castellucci. In parallel to this, in 2007 she started developing her own artistic projects, creating visual and poetic performances moved by a desire to explore the role of images. As writer, director, performer and set designer, Silvia Costa is a protean artist who engages with different artistic fields to deepen her theatrical research. Her performances are regularly presented in high-profile Italian and international festivals. Since 2019 she has also been directing operas. She was Associate Artist at Triennale Milano Teatro and at Centre dramatique national d’Angers in 2019.
