As part of the festival In reciproca attesa, organized in collaboration with UBI Unione Buddhista Italiana, we present, in a Milan premiere, the screening of the documentary Massimo Bartolini. Due qui / To Hear by Matteo Frittelli. Produced on the occasion of the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, the film offers an intimate portrait of Massimo Bartolini’s project for the Italian Pavilion 2024. In dialogue with curator Luca Cerizza, the artist engages engineers, artisans, writers, performers, and musicians - including Caterina Barbieri, Gavin Bryars, and Kali Malone - giving shape to a complex system where art, music, technique, and engineering converge. The result is an immersive experience unfolding through the interior and exterior spaces of the Italian Pavilion, where music, sound, vibration, and listening become the central elements of a large collective work.

Throughout the film, which documents months of work, director Matteo Frittelli and his Alto Piano team - long-time collaborators of the artist - guide the viewer through the conceptual organization and technical realization of the installation. The voices of those involved illuminate the many facets of the project and spark new reflections on listening, representation, and audience participation.

Matteo Frittelli began his professional career in the late 1990s, specializing in cinematography and directing. His style is rooted in a deep and contemplative form of storytelling, characterized by a lyrical sense of suspension and a project-based approach. Free from rhetorical excess, his work focuses on nuance, transforming each subject into a rich and penetrating exploration. Throughout his career, he has cultivated a profound interest in artistic documentation. Since 2017, he has directed Alto Piano Studio in Milan, which he co-founded with his friend, photographer Agostino Osio, developing projects across contemporary art, fashion, and culture.
