Michele Di Stefano / mk

PREMIERE

Running time 60'
October 18 show will be followed by a conversation with Michele Di Stefano, choreographer and founder of the mk group. The artist presents his work and artistic explorations and artistic explorations.

The new production by mk – one of the most interesting companies on the international artistic scene – is a kaleidoscope of dance and images immersed in a medley of sounds. The choreographer Michele Di Stefano has created a vibrant show that takes us on an exploration of new territories, suspended between the euphoria of the unknown and the desire to return to the wildness of nature. A future world is sketched out on stage, in which chaos is the normal state and the surroundings are murky and pulsating. It is a primordial call that brings out our wildest, deepest dimension.

Michele Di Stefano, choreographer and founder of the mk group, has received numerous awards for his activities (Premio Ubu 2019 and Premio Danza&Danza 2018 for Bermudas, Premio speciale Danza&Danza 2020 for Eden, Premio Speciale Ubu 2021 for the co-production of the Radio India project) as well as choreographic commissions from Aterballetto, the Korean National Contemporary Dance Company, Nuovo Balletto di Toscana and Ballet de Lorraine. He was the dance program consultant (GRANDI PIANURE 2018-22) at Teatro di Roma, co-curator with Francesca Corona of the project Giacimenta per Matera 2019 and he created the performance cycles TROPICI (Angelo Mai Roma) and BUFFALO (Palazzo delle Esposizioni, MACRO Roma and the Museo Nazionale Romano). In 2018 he curated the Outdoor section of the BolzanoDanza-Tanz Bozen Festival. Along with the performance circuit, he is involved in an intense activity of seminars, workshops and experimental projects. He was awarded the Silver Lion for innovation in dance at the 2014 Venice Biennale and the Premio Nico Garrone in 2018.
