Japanese-Argentinean designer Adam Nathaniel Furman and English historian Joshua Mardell talk about their book-research Queer Spaces: An Atlas of LGBTQIA+ Places and Stories (RIBA publishing, 2022). The volume is a powerful handbook of ordinary and extraordinary places—including an independent bookstore in Glasgow, an ice cream parlor in Havana, and cathedral in ruins in Managua, occupied by the underground LGBTQIA+ community—that have unleashed the energies of cities around the world.
