The presentation of the book Relatos Chicha was conceived as an extension of the work presented by Peru at the 24th International Exhibition of Triennale Milano, Inequalities, created by visual artist Elliot Tupac. The book gathers fragments of memory, photographs, recordings, and stories that accompany his artistic practice, transforming lettering into a tool of collective and social expression. Developed through a shared process, the volume testifies to how roots, experiences, and everyday gestures can become a choral voice and a critical reflection on the city of Lima, a territory marked by deep inequalities and continuous transformations. Through words and images, Relatos Chicha conveys to the reader the strength of a language that intertwines graphics, orality, and popular culture, placing at its core the role of art as a space for encounter and collective imagination.
