Sentimental
A conversation with Ali Kazma and Orhan Pamuk
BookCity
Part of BookCity 2023, Sentimental is a conversation among Ali Kazma (1971, Istanbul), contemporary video artist, and Orhan Pamuk (1952, Istanbul), author, artist and 2006 winner of the Nobel Prize for literature. The talk is named after Kazma’s video-work Sentimental, one of the two videos shown as part of his solo exhibition A House of Ink at Francesca Minini gallery until November 11. The works – A House of Ink, 2023, three channel HD video, endless loop, 47', 48', 46’; Sentimental, 2022, two channel synchronized HD video, 7" 45 – both filmed inside Orhan Pamuk's apartment and studio on the Bosphorus, will be projected during the talk. Through the projected images, and the discussion between the two protagonists, we will start to explore their creative processes. We will immerse ourselves in their production practices and delve deeper into the relationship between the Author and the Artist.
The talk is moderated by Caroline Corbetta, contemporary art curator and journalist.
