On the occasion of Milan Arch Week 2025, we present a lecture by Virginia San Fratello entitled Balancing Acts. Through the projects of Rael San Fratello and Emerging Object, the lecture discusses architecture beyond construction, expanding the practice to a field that must confront structural, political, and ethical contradictions.
Virginia San Fratello is an architect, interior designer and educator.
Chair of the Department of Design at San Josè State University, she won the National Design Award for Digital Design, the International Interior Design Educator of the Year Award and the Metropolis Magazine Next Gen Design Competition. Her practice, San Fratello, was named an Emerging Voice by the Architectural Leage of New York, and awarded the Beazley Design of the Year (2021). Her work is included in MoMA, The Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the CSMVS Museum in Mumbai, LACMA and the Design Museum in London.
