On the occasion of Milano Arch Week 2025, we propose a study day dedicated to exploring the role of architecture in urban and social transformations, with a focus on the legacies of Italian and international colonialism. The initiative weaves together individual and collective narratives to critically reflect on contemporary dwelling and cultural heritage, questioning architecture and urban planning as devices that have historically produced inequality. The project, interdisciplinary and participatory in nature, includes workshops and seminars as practices of situated knowledge. Rejecting a single, unified vision of urban space, it aims to imagine new forms of inhabiting and to activate critical readings of the landscape—extending beyond the museum’s boundaries—in collaboration with institutions such as NABA, and promoting a transdisciplinary reflection across artistic, curatorial, and educational practices.
Il Cantiere is a social center active in Milan since 2001. It promotes artistic, political, and mutualistic practices from an anti-fascist and transfeminist perspective.
Jermay Micheal Gabriel is a transdisciplinary artist and curator. His practice combines sound, installation, and performance through an experimental and political approach. Founder of Black History Month Milano, he fosters spaces for radical expression. Recent projects include Cose Bizzarre (ArtNoble, 2024), Stratificazioni (2023), Noocene (Carrara), and participation in the 24th Triennale di Milano with Paradossi e Opportunità.
Tiziana Villani is a philosopher and lecturer at Paris 8 and NABA. She directs the publishing house Eterotopia France and the editorial series «Millepiani». Her work focuses on political ecology, the body, and urbanism. Key publications include: Athena Cyborg (1995), Ecologia politica (2013), and Corpi mutanti (2018).
Marco Scotini is one of Italy’s most influential curators and theorists. He is Artistic Director of NABA and Curator of the exhibition program at PAV – Parco Arte Vivente, Turin. He has collaborated with Documenta, MAXXI, Castello di Rivoli, the Venice Biennale, and Yinchuan Biennale. His books include Artecrazia (2021), Utopian Display (2019), and Politiques de la Végétation (2019).
