Patrik Lazić, a young Serbo-Croatian author, presents a work at the Triennale that explores the relationship between a son and his parents, prisoners of a love conditioned by the inability to accept his homosexuality. One of the most interesting directors of the new generation, Lazić works on taboos, family relationships and understanding one’s sexual identity with delicacy and brilliant humor. An intimate, honest, poetic story poised between truth and fiction, in which we can all know and recognize ourselves.
An author and theater director, Patrik Lazić graduated with honors from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, also earning a master’s degree in directing. He won the annual Belgrade Drama Theater Award and the Best Play Award at the 9th Aleksinac Festival of First Works for directing Fine Dead Girls. He also received a special award for introducing innovative approaches at the 58th Joakim Vujić Festival and the best young director award at the TNT festival in Craiova. His authorial debut, Our Son, won the youth jury prize for best performance at the Fast Forward Festival in Dresden. With Biljana Srbljanović, he is Serbia’s representative in Fabulamundi - New Voices, the European network of playwrights.
