Personal story as an inspiration for a play
Patrik Lazić
Free participation upon registration (subject to availability)
Running time: 3 hours
The workshop, led by director and playwright Patrik Lazić, directly follows on from his play Our Son, produced by the Belgrade based artistic organization Heartefact, which is performed as part of FOG festival. The masterclass is dedicated to the process of transforming a personal story into material for drama and theater, and contains practical exercises dedicated to finding and mapping personal stories from the life of the participants: awareness of personal material/experience from which the story can be built, processing and selection of material from memory, placing the personal in the context of the political.
An author and theater director, Patrik Lazić graduated with honors from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, also earning a master’s degree in directing. He won the annual Belgrade Drama Theater Award and the Best Play Award at the 9th Aleksinac Festival of First Works for directing Fine Dead Girls. He also received a special award for introducing innovative approaches at the 58th Joakim Vujić Festival and the best young director award at the TNT festival in Craiova. His authorial debut, Our Son, won the youth jury prize for best performance at the Fast Forward Festival in Dresden. With Biljana Srbljanović, he is Serbia’s representative in Fabulamundi - New Voices, the European network of playwrights.
