Riccardo Giovinetto presents an audiovisual performance at FOG that overlays the sounds of polyphonic choirs with electronic music compositions, breaking down samples of Renaissance paintings into a stream of images that are transformed by sound. It is a project that explores the idea of grace through the eye of Renaissance painters who crystallized it by associating it with the female figure. The gazes of the painters and those of the portrayed faces are reworked by the artist in a creative and narrative process that interprets an AI calculation: thus a third gaze is added, the algorithmic one, abstracted in the rules of its own numerical language. FEMINA is a journey into the imagination of AI, in its various stages of learning, internalization, and expression of the concept of grace.
Riccardo Giovinetto is an Italian visual and multimedia artist, composer, physicist, and university lecturer. His works take many forms, such as audiov-video performances, installations, and concert compositions. He produces sound-responsive sculptures through digital structures generated and manipulated in real time, creating a renewed relationship between sound and image. In 2010 he founded OZMOTIC, an electronic and instrumental music duo that collaborates with philharmonic orchestras and international artists, performing at numerous Italian and European festivals. He teaches Acoustic Physics, Electroacoustics for Sound Technicians at the Alto Perfezionamento Musicale school in Saluzzo, as well as being a certified Ableton trainer and lecturer in Sound Design and Multimedia Installations at SAE Institute in Milan.
