On the occasion of the performance Quiet Light, presented at FOG in its national premiere, choreographer Cindy Van Acker leads a workshop dedicated to the fundamental aspects of her artistic research: the consideration of the body as objective matter, the importance of mental induction and continuous movement.
Having trained in ballet in Antwerp, Cindy Van Acker danced for the Royal Ballet of Flanders and the Grand Théâtre in Geneva before joining the Geneva contemporary dance scene in the 1990s. In 2002 she founded Compagnie Greffe. Since then she has created about thirty pieces for Cie Greffe, as well as works for Ballet de Lorraine, Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, P.A.R.T.S. and choreographies for Romeo Castellucci's productions. In November 2017, she became an associate artist of the ADC in Geneva, under the direction of Anne Davier. Her works Diffraction and Speechless Voices received the Choreographic Production Award from the OFC. She is a winner of the Swiss Performing Arts Award 2023 / Hans Reinhart Ring and the Leenaards Cultural Award 2023.
