L’ Âge d’or is a short film that moves poetically across the genres of documentary and fiction. Realised through the use of new technologies, the work is a choreographic experiment that stems from the encounter between children with movement disorders and dancers. Created by the award-winning choreographer and visual artist Éric Minh Cuong Castaing, following months spent working in a specialised medical institute, the film captures the emotion of the children involved in a shared dance and in the magic of a virtual-reality experience. A thought provoking video portrait that exalts physical and sensitive particularities and celebrates the vibrant aesthetics of bodies in motion. Before the screening, the director will meet with Luca Santiago Mora, one of the founders of Atelier dell’Errore (creator of Piccola Liturgia Errante which was presented in the theatre in 2018).
Eric Minh Cuong Castaing is a choreographer and visual artist, associated with the National Ballet of Marseilles (2016-2019). Graduated from the school of images Gobelins in Paris, he creates work with his company Shonen that combines dance, visual arts and new technologies (drones, robots, enhanced reality). Coming from the hip-hop scene, he then embraced both Japanese butō and contemporary dance. His work has been shown in the context of European platforms (National Center for Dance, 104 Paris, MAC Créteil, Tanzhaus Dusseldorf, Tanzquartier Vienna) and is supported by the French Ministry of Culture. He has been awarded several prizes (LE BAL award for young creation with the ADAGP edition 2019, Audi Talents 2017, Dream of a digital draft SCAM, Lagardère digital grant, Sacd–Beaumarchais choreographic dance, Diversity Foundation’s 1st prize, PULSAR). His collaborators on interdisciplinary projects include the choreographers Alessandro Sciarroni and Pauline Simon, stage director Silvia Costa, film director Mathilde Suppe and the sculptor Anna Tomaszeski.
